Marilyn was born, raised and married in New Plymouth NZ in the shadow of Mt. She started working in pharmacies upon leaving school, focusing on alternative health options in that field. Once the children left home she moved to the Coromandel and continued her training in natural health practices at Wellpark College, Mana Integrative Therapy and Watsu aquatic body work. Holly lives in Connecticut, USA and is an independent consultant focusing on alternative transport and energy conservation. Bill was one of the first wave of President Kennedy’s Peace Corps Volunteers in Bolivia, . He graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1967, and received his MSc. He then spent 15 years working in international development in coastal fishing communities in Central and South America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Indian Ocean islands.
He immigrated to Whitianga, New Zealand in 1984, working as an oyster farmer, tertiary education tutor and garden centre owner operator, and bought the Tikapa Moana property at Waharau Kaiaua in 1997. In 1997 he founded the EcoQuest field centre for integrated studies in ecology and resource management at Kaiaua. In August September 2016 they made an epic journey to Germany, Denmark, Czech Republic, Austria, Switzerland and France to visit 13 old friends mostly past wwoofers at Tikapa Moana
This one is the ideal choice if you want to make the superior use of our treatment facilities close to spa, massage, sauna and pool, or wish to have us bear breakfasts or an occasional dinner for you. Tikapa Mona Eco Spa Retreat begins at the sea and gently climbs toward the foothills of the Hunua Range, where you will find a great network of effortless to medium walking tracks through Waharau and Whakatiwai Regional Parks with their pristine lakes, streams and native forests. We give you a unique wellness experience that seamlessly blends together our personalized private treatments which includes Bio Energy Therapy, Watsu and Massage, our relaxing pastoral healing environment, the organic foods that we lovingly grow in our garden and orchard.
Spontaneous Bio Energy Therapy activates your body’s own spontaneous capacity to recuperate by re balancing your body, thus boosting your resistant system and energy levels. Aquatic therapy assisted gentle body movements and stretches in solar heated pool for total relaxation and healing. The long Maori occupation of the Seabird Coast is punctuated with abundant meaningful archaeological sites and pretty Maori store names. From the warm welcome by Bill guided tour to the lovely, relaxed surroundings.

We Bill and Marilyn invite you to join us at Tikapa Mona Eco Spa Retreat set in our subtropical organic orchard on the calm Seabird Coast, just a one hour drive southeast of Auckland on the scenic route to the Coromandel Peninsula. One of the most effective means of eliminating toxins from the body, through gentle, healing infrared rays that are imminently soothing and relaxing. Marilyn and Bill offer this treatment in the calmness and privacy of their specially designed, solar heated Watsu pool at Tikapa Mona EcoSpa Retreat.

In addition to our covered outdoor hydro massaging hot tub, we have an inviting indoor spa facility, housing our purpose built 7 x 4 m fully solar heated Watsu aquatic therapy treatment pool, massage room and far infrared sauna, all with commanding views of the surrounding pastures and mountains. We depart this house with an amazing hot feeling inside and with two new and most wonderful friends! Tikapa Mona is something special and it very much lived up to my expectations and more. We are close to the iconic, Pohutukawa tree lined, Tapapakanga Beach, our calm coastal waters for sea kayaking at its best, and the Shell bank for world class bird watching. Marilyn is a Spontaneous Bio Energy Therapist and this is the foundation of all the therapeutic work that she does.
